Daresbury Science and Innovation Campus is made up of the world famous Daresbury Laboratory, Daresbury Innovation Centre and the Cockcroft Institute (the National Centre for Accelerator Science).
The overall aim of the Daresbury Science and Innovation Campus is to reinforce the strengths of the national and regional science base, by promoting primary research activity and developing industry- academic linkages to exploit research and development opportunities.
The Daresbury Science and Innovation Campus (DSIC) is recognised, together with the Harwell facilities, as part of a commitment by the UK Government to developing two poles (the di-polar model) of world class science and technology, research and development.
This commitment has been reinforced by the recent announcement of over £65 million in investment at Daresbury to finance a computer sciences centre and a research facility to develop detector systems
Daresbury Park adjacent to M56 Junction 11 is a 91 hectare (225 acre) high quality, landscaped, business park suitable for head office, financial services and high tech activities.
Daresbury Park has planning consent for 148,650 sq m (1.6 million ft2) and is currently home to high profile tenants such as VT Nuclear, ABB Eutech and HS Administration Services (part of the Aegon Insurance Group).
The Heath Business and Technical Park is a campus style business park suitable for a range of business uses from new start businesses to high tech companies.
More than 170 businesses from 20 business sectors are represented at The Heath employing over 2,000 people. Sectors present at The Heath include chemicals, biomedical, energy, environmental, automotive, research, civil engineering, business services and ICT.
The Heath is now embarking on a new exciting development phase which will see the creation of some 300,000 ft2 of new state of the art office and laboratory buildings. The first new building is now complete and has been occupied since June 2009.
3MG is a public and private sector partnership supported by Halton Borough Council, The Stobart Group, The Northwest Development Agency and the Government Office for the Northwest. The project will create up to 5,000 new jobs, reclaim up to 200 acres of contaminated land and see an investment of over £100 million pounds.
3MG is destined to be one of the UK's largest inter-modal logistics parks and offers unrivalled access to the UK's deep-sea ports with six daily train services to the key south coast ports of Felixstowe, Purfleet and Southampton.
3MG has direct access to the West Coast Mainline and is at the heart of the motorway network and on the doorstep of two expanding international airports serving more than 200 destinations worldwide.
The park covers two hundred hectares and handles in excess of 150,000 containers each year of which some 60,000 are moved by rail. There are currently 750,000 ft2 of existing distribution sheds on site with outline consent for a total of 1.8m ft2 of new build, rising eventually to 3.5 million ft2 of space.
Widnes Waterfront
The Widnes Waterfront Programme, will see the transformation of more than two hundred acres of low quality former industrial land into a new development site of regional significance. The project will breathe new life into a dramatic waterfront setting creating a business location of the highest modern standards.
Mersey Gateway
The Mersey Gateway is a £431million project that will provide a landmark new bridge across the River Mersey between Runcorn and Widnes.
The Mersey Gateway will provide a major new strategic transport route linking the Liverpool City Region and the Northwest to the rest of the country.
